Corporate Storyteller

A Good Story

A good story can entertain, educate, make us laugh or cry or even call us to action. Shawn is uniquely qualified to accomplish all that and more.

Shawn’s dynamic stage presence will flow from professional theatrical experience. His, calm-in-the-midst-of-the-storm, mindset has been forged from 30 years of emergency services work. Shawn’s passion about what he shares and compassionate for all with whom he shares, are immediately and continuously felt by all.

Some examples of presentations Shawn has done as conference, key-note or seminars include:

Proper Presentation Pressure  (Click on Communication)

Finally, Shawn also has a strong commitment to listen, and an innate ability to link and align what others have said to what he is presenting. This can multiply the impact of all presentations at the event and add additional value for all who attend.

Ed McDowell, Executive Director of Warm Beach Camp & Conference Center says, “Shawn brings a combination of conviction and compassion that’s compelling. When you’re leading an organization like I lead, cultural alignment is far more important than effective strategy. Strategy is important, but cultural alignment is super valuable, and to have somebody who comes in and is able to read that culture and to get in alignment with it and bring the best out of it is a real gift.”

Communication

Proper Presentation Pressure:  The value of checking for misguided attitudes or actions when speaking.

Tires can become over-inflated or under-inflated often resulting in a negative or unsafe outcome.  Likewise, I believe our presentations can become over-inflated or under-inflated often resulting in a negative or unfruitful outcome.

As an Educator and Storyteller, I yearn to communicate clearly with the hope of equipping or inspiring others.   But I am keenly aware of what George Bernard Shaw said,

“The problem with communicating is the illusion that it has been accomplished”.

So, my commitment before I speak is to check the pressure of my message.  Presentations can become over-inflated usually because of misguided attitudes on the part of the Speaker.  Or the presentation can become under-inflated as a result of misguided actions by the Speaker.  Either way, the impact of the message is diluted or derailed and the audience can be left feeling disappointed or distracted or both.

Examples of over-inflating our message (misguided attitudes) can include:

The Art of an Injury Free Day in 1 minute

The Art of an Injury Free Day (for work and non-work settings)

Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do.  Excellence, then is not an act, but a habit”.

I would say, as long as our habits are good, and founded on accurate and healthy principles, then there is a lot of wisdom in what Aristotle said. Excellence is always a worthy goal.  And excellence will not come to fruition by some random acts, but through awareness, healthy habits, practice and acquiring skill.  It is a lifestyle not simply a life experience.

The Art of an Injury-fee day rediscovers helpful lessons in basic ergonomics, driver focus, situational awareness, and more. These rediscovered lessons will spark imagination and fan into flame practical tools and better understanding , so that we can navigate through any day to be an Injury-free-Day.

Buying Time When Time is Critical

In an age when sudden cardiac arrest is the leading killer in this nation for both men and women, while also acknowledging the growing number of mass shootings at various events, let Shawn Ritchey L.I.V.E. prepare any employee, employer or conference goer in what to do and how best to do it.

Shawn Ritchey L.I.V.E. will share important understanding of how best to “buy time” (from a holistic approach), along with practical approaches, when dealing with any unexpected event.  While always adhering to international guidelines in cardiac or first aid care where pertinent, Shawn Ritchey will also share his key concepts such as:

  • S.T.O.P before you go
  • 3-strikes and they’re out
  • Comfort care IS first aid
  • Left can be best if pregnant?  If poisoned?
  • Minimize movement to minimize injury
  • Keep the good side up
  • What do you mean, Musculo-skeletal injury is all about letting the muscle breath?

Certification training can also be provided in a variety of medical related subjects.  For more detail click here.
