30 Dec Socks vs Gloves; which would you choose?
In the midst of some very unpredictable weather this year, and as I found myself in a Costco looking to buy some supplies to carry in my car to offer those less fortunate than I, I found myself pondering this very question – if I had to choose between gloves and socks what would I choose? I chose socks. Why? The short answer is actually with another question; have you ever tried to put gloves on your feet? My conclusion was that if my resources were limited.; If my space to pack or carry my supplies was minimal; if I was seeking to be as efficient as possible with what I own, I could wear socks on both my feet and hands, but it would be hard to wear an extra pair of gloves on my feet. And so I bought multiple, and varied socks, in Costco that day and have handed them out to those that seemed to need them. As I asked people I met on street corners, traffic lights or even on the sidewalk in downtown Seattle, I asked some if they needed socks. Most would immediately say, “Yes”! Some would ponder a moment. When I then offered them my perspective that socks could also be worn on their hands as gloves, many had their expression turn from ponder to possibilities! Please know I have not researched nor studied this on any other scientific level than what I share here (which has not been scientific at all:). It is simply something for us all to ponder. Gloves vs Socks? To help vs To pass on by? I’d enjoy your thoughts. Though I need to tell you that my comment tools is not working. So if you do have a thought or suggestion or disagreement, please send me an email through my contact page and I will get back with you and post some replies later.
