He Asked the Wrong Question…
This is the 9th and final episode in this series on the Good Samaritan. In this last episode I suggest the lawyer asked the wrong question of, "Who's my neighbor?" before Jesus tells the story of the Good Samaritan. When asking, "Who's our neighbor?" implies that someone is not our neighbor. I believe that allows us to still maintain control of the narrative of who we'd like or hope our neighbor(s) to be. But the very telling of the story is Jesus' call to all his followers that our lives should reflect our heavenly Father's heart. Jesus tells us elsewhere that his Father's heart "...makes his sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." (Matthew 5:45) This verse is just after Jesus directs us to "love our enemies and pray for those who persecute you..." (Matthew 5:44) So what is the correct question we should be asking? I invite you to listen to the video.:)
